Bog wood, more ancient than the pyramids of Egypt and has been nationally preserved in irish bogs for over 5,000 years! The Celtic Roots Studio creates the most exquisite bogwood sculptures. This piece is uniquely designed and sculptured by hand from age old bog oak that have lain hidden beneath the bogs and came to the surface as a result of turf cutting. The elegant and dramatic form created by the young artists at the studio are a celebration of both our rich Irish heritage and the unique landscape of the boglands. Each sculpture is painstakingly worked on by the artist to release its form and to bring forth a wonderous release of life. As each sculpture and gift is created individually by the Artist, the item you order may vary from the one shown. Each sculpture is packaged individually in a handmade wooden box, created in the studio label, ensuring that it only originates from the studio and the hands of the artists. It is also accompanied by a certificate stating the title, wood, the bog from which the wood was reclaimed and the age of the wood, as authenticated by research and carbon dating at Queen's University, Belfast.
