Tony Coady

Tony Coady is a seventh generation Goldsmith and Master Craftsman, who qualified as a goldsmith in 1972 and as a pattern maker in 1974. He is an Honours graduate of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.

tony coady weldingTony began his apprenticeship with Palmer Brothers in Mary Street, Dublin as a diamond ring mounter. He later spent time in Hatton Gardens, London and also won European Apprentice of The Year in Sweden when he was ninteen.

gold smithingHe began work as a goldsmith with Jewell Art on Parnell Street, Dublin and later with Thomas O'Conor's of Harolds Cross, Dublin.

Tony has wide experience of working in high quality gold and silver work as well as bigger pieces in copper and bronze.

He has also worked extensively in enamelling and clay modelling and is an espablished painter and sculptor, exhibiting with the Royal Hibernian Academy and his own one man shows. He lectured in these disciplines for a time in 1986

Among the important commissions he has undertaken are: An Taoiseach, Mr Bertie Ahearn, Irish Kennel Club, Michael Flately "Lord of the Dance", Paul Berry Gold Foundation - Washington D.C., Allied Irish Banks Book Prize of the Year, National Dairy Council Award, Irish Football Association Awards, G.A.A. Centenary, Og Sport Gael, G.A.A. / A.I.B. Centenary Awards, Dublin County Council Chain of Office, ANCO sculpture of Chinese Embassy
