Weaving Dreams

Weaving Dreams hand felted products are individual and entirely handmade and every process is carried out in Glensamole. The wool comes from a herd of Jacob sheep grazing on the adjacent mountainside.

jacob sheepIn the small production facility, which was once Mary O'Rourke's studio, the fleeces are combed and carded before being pressed in a bath and repeatedly hand-rolled to produce a tight felt which still retains the colours, oils and grease of the original wool. The felts are then cut and stitched into the final product be it slippers, booties, dolls, toy sheep or the new range Wall Tapestries.

The labour intensive process, which is carefully guided by Mary O'Rourke, results in the beautifully hand-crafted individual products. While the output will never comete with mass produced items, this is not the market they are aimed at. The targetmarket is people who appreciate high quality individually crafted products.

jacob bootThe Jacob range of footwear comes in four different types all with its individual design. If you want to keeo your feet warm, nothing can touch these, in a range of various hues and colours. All are handfelted with suede sole and some are trimmed with blends of tweed. Sizes range from 35 - 46 European size.

dollOur Doll range has now become a family of five sisters, all named and all sporting different coloured hair and dressed accordingly in matching clothing.

The Glenasmole Tapestry Wallhanging and Rugs have been designed this year in new and exciting colourful abstract designs by Mary O'Rourke. By carefully choosing woolen fabrics to form a soft, deep pile, the feel of a lush mountain pasture is captured in the Glenasmole Rug. Each floorcover is unique and made to order. Colours are blended and may be chosen to suit any decor. Walhangings may also be ordered.
